We have just finished going thru the Christmas Holidays coming up to the end of the year. The year has been good and sometimes not so good for us. We have losses and gains. The main thing is that we have learned some lessons that would not have been experienced, if we had not gone thru what we went thru. And it is not over. There is more to come. Are we ready is the question? Perhaps. There is no way to predict what transpire but if we are alive we will experience something. Plans for the future will be made in hopes that we will get to see them come in to fruition. I had an experience with my attire at one of the gatherings. I have always been my own person and not conforming to what everyone else expects of me. I’ll go left when everyone else goes right. Tradition seems to be in order when wearing certain things. I am not a traditionalist when it comes to certain things. I am transitioning from chemically treated hair to dread locks. This is a challenge within itself. There is no way for me to describe my adventure but to say it is an adventure. I am therefore prone to don any kind of head gear that hides the unsightly twists and tangles of my twists. People with normal kinky hair, seem to transition fairly well. I’m different in that I exercise and the twists untwist and do their own thing. They go in various directions. So I try to camouflage what’s underneath my head gear. On this occasion I topped my head with a white summer straw hat! Unbeknownst to me, I guess that was a faux pas. I don’t do fashion, so I guess that was a no- no. Attention everyone, the blue light special is in aisle eight. I won’t say I will try to do better, because I won’t. As Popeye says,” I am that I am, and that’s all that I am.” My hope is that the world will stop putting us in places we don’t have to be in because we’re not like everyone else. Acceptance of the differences we all have and dealing with anything and everyone out of the norm. Then we can focus on what is really important.
